Fiat will launch a new generation of Panda next year. This became clear after the group’s boss, Sergio Marchionne lifted the ban on investment, which was in effect from 15 months. In October 2008 Fiat group introduced a freeze on spending for many of the economic crisis, which lasted until Prohibition in December 2009. This is reflected in the development of new models Panda, Alfa Romeo Giulietta and deputy of the Lancia Ypsilon. In a telephone conference with financial analysts, Marchionne said that the launch of new models last year, in the midst of economic and financial crisis “would be doomed to lose. “That is why we think we intelligently decide to postpone some of our projects now would fit well in the crisis and recovery in 2011 and beyond,” said Marchionne. Investments of Fiat Group last year were 32 percent lower than in 2008. In 2008 the group invested in developing new innovative projects and 4.97 billion euros. The planned investment for this year is 4.5 billion euros. Alfa Giulietta will be shown at Geneva Motor Show in a month, one year later than the preliminary plans. Fiat Panda will be on the market with its new generation in 2011 and two years later than the original plans.
